Strategic Adaptation for Emergency Resilience

SAFER is a campaign for locally-led adaptation: the work of looking ahead, getting ready, and taking care of each other as our world changes.

Here in the UK, climate isn't the only global crisis whose impacts threaten homes, livelihoods and vital services.
We need a serious national plan for local resilience: helping local communities prepare, adapt, and protect what matters most.

What can I do?
The story so far:
Climate breakdown is happening here, today: bound up with a growing wave of crises that will transform life as we know it. From flooded homes to food and energy shortages, job uncertainty and disrupted healthcare, we're facing upheaval like we've never seen before. The Government existing plans are nowhere near enough to protect our communities and businesses. And too often, they rely on quick fixes that can cause even worse harm to nature.
It's not enough to react to emergencies after they happen: we need proactive, long-term strategies based on threats facing our local areas. We need to adapt our homes and local areas in ways that help resore nature and support the fight against global overheating. And we need to keep pouring love and care into our communities, so that when things get hard, we can depend on each other... making resilience part of our culture, so no one faces an uncertain future alone.
As the world falls deeper into crisis, governments will be forced to act. The choices we make will shape our society for years to come. We have the power to steer adaptation now, if we act together.
